Lent Week 5

Opening Prayer
"Lord, how excellent are Thy ways, and how devious and dark are the ways of man. Show us how to die, that we may rise again to newness of life. Rend the veil of our self-life from the top down as Thou didst rend the veil of the Temple. We would draw near in full assurance of faith. We would dwell with Thee in daily experience here on this earth so that we may be accustomed to the glory when we enter Thy heaven to dwell with Thee there. In Jesus' name, Amen.” A.W. Tozer

Meditate on the Psalms
Last Sunday’s call to worship was Psalm 126.

Next Sunday’s call to worship will be Psalm 31.9-16.

You might also want to consider Psalm 16.

Growing in Grace: Pondering 2 Corinthians 3-6
  • Contemplate eternal life is our eternal dwelling (2 Corinthians 5.1-4)!
  • What other Scriptures come to mind, Bible scholars, as you think about the Holy Spirit as our “down payment” (2 Corinthians 5.5)?
  • With the joy of the Lord as our strength, how do we take strength from our eternal security in Jesus on this side of eternity (2 Corinthians 5.6-8).
  • How can you cooperate with the Holy Spirit this week to submit your ambition to his (2 Corinthians 5.9, 10)?

Closing Prayer
"O HEAVENLY Father, who hast filled the world with beauty; Open, we beseech thee, our eyes to behold thy gracious hand in all thy works; that rejoicing in thy whole creation, we may learn to serve thee with gladness; for the sake of him by whom all things were made, thy Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.”
